I have long been fascinated by birds.  What intrigues me about them is not only the endless variety of colors, shapes and sizes of these avian creatures, but also their complex behaviors and the ways they express emotions.  The diligence of a black crested night heron I saw in Daan Park in Taipei that became the subject of “Working Bird”, the plaintive call of a swan in the California Sierras in “Promise Park” and the friendship between two colorful songbirds in “Companions” are examples of what I try to capture in these paintings of birds.
